Culturally Responsive Care: Understanding Deaf Culture and Supporting Deaf Survivors of Sexual Violence

This foundational webinar will introduce participants to the cultural and linguistic nuances of the Deaf community, emphasizing the importance of cultural responsiveness when working with Deaf survivors of sexual assault. Participants will learn about Deaf culture, communication styles, and how systemic barriers affect access to care. By gaining this understanding, clinicians and other victim service providers will be better prepared to provide sensitive and effective support. This webinar is the first in a three-part series and will be followed by a webinar that will introduce the dynamics of sexual violence in the Deaf community, and conclude with a webinar that provides the tools and strategies to build effective partnerships with the Deaf led advocates, setting the stage for deeper understanding of and honoring our lived experiences.
